Day 4: Confessions of a Socialite

Pain: 5-6

Numbness: Still my entire lower lip and chin. I’ve started to feel a few painful spasms in my chin, though, along with the continuing tingling and “sunburned” feeling I have in my lower lip.

Nausea: None! Today is the last day of my new patch, though…

Today was a good day, overall. I woke up in pain, having skipped my pre-dawn dose of painkiller last night. Once we got it under control, though, I had a good amount of energy. We took a field trip to my parent’s house this afternoon, where I hunkered down in a great chair with Frodo pup in my lap for a few hours. My grandparents came to visit, and then two of my best friends came as well! (Plus the husband of one friend, which Brandon was thrilled about.)

The girls and I went back to our apartment and watched The Help. My mom texted to ask if they were treating me like a queen, and I said, “Of course, Mom! I take after you…I know how to pick good friends.” 🙂

Highlights of the Day:

1. Seeing so many people! It was exhausting, and my pain is definitely up tonight, but it was good for my soul to see my friends and family.

2. Potato soup! Thanks to another wonderful friend, I had a potato soup mix that, when mixed with chicken broth and a bit of milk, was absolutely delicious! Yuuummm yum. Tasty food really makes a difference in my day! Thanks, Chris!

3. Frosty. Another tasty treat. My husband got me a frosty last night, which I failed at completely. But, once he doctored it up with milk and a blender, it became a great condiment-bottle-food. I finished the second half of it tonight, with great satisfaction.

The day was most definitely the best yet, post-surgery. But my socialite ways have left me wiped out and in a bit more pain than I’ve experienced so far. (It’s just SO HARD not to talk when your two best friends, whom are never together, are in the same room!)

Also, one point of minor concern… I looked in my mouth for the first time tonight, since the swelling has gone down enough for me to maneuver my cheeks a bit. On the right side there appears to be some sort of white glob. I didn’t poke at it much because I still have no feeling there, and don’t want to hurt myself. So I’m not sure if it’s a piece of potato lodged there, or if it is puss, or what. I rinsed my mouth out well with salt water and some mouth wash. I’ll just keep an eye on it for a few days.

So, on that lovely note, I bid you goodnight! I hope the first day of 2012 was lots of fun for you!

I am so happy you love the soup!! And what a great photo of you and the girls, I can imagine how hard it would be to talk! You are looking amazing and sounds like you are doing a great job recovering! Love you!

MMMMmmm! That soup is delicious! If you have any other liquidy soup mixes you’d like to experiment on me, I’ll take ’em! 🙂 Seriously, though…your soup made my day. On can handle only so much chicken broth and fruit juices.

Thanks, Clint. 🙂 I have to admit, the Clarice thought passed through my mind, too. But, thankfully I’ve never seen those movies, so my imagination couldn’t get the best of me. 🙂
