Day 15: INSOMNIA

For the last two nights, I have been suffering from terrible insomnia. I’m exhausted when I go to bed, but my eyes won’t close, my brain won’t stop whirring, and sleep never comes. I maybe got a spotty two hours of sleep on Tuesday night, and last night, my insomnia was so bad, and so distressing, that I woke Brandon in the middle of the night, begging him to pray for me. As he began his very sleepy prayer, I burst into tears and sobbed like a toddler out of sheer exhaustion.

Needless to say, my days have been very unenergetic as a result. I spent all day Wednesday on the couch, cuddling with Noah, who also wasn’t feeling well. (By cuddling, I do mean chatting about blocks and plugs, and various yucky items within his line of sight. I also mean reading books, watching him squeal at the kitty, eating cheese bites, singing the spider song…. All in all, a wonderful, wonderful day, despite being exhausted!)

Today I managed a blissful 3-hour nap after an excursion to the library for Toddler Time with Noah. I enjoyed seeing my former coworkers, and had a blast singing the Milkshake Song with Noah. (He, however, was so overwhelmed by the enormous number of babies that he just stared. We’ll work on it. 🙂 ) The nap really helped my soggy brain function this evening, and I was able to enjoy dinner with some of my dearest friends on this final night with Noah and family. Tomorrow, my precious little guy flies away with his mama and papa, and Brandon and I will be left with an all-too-quiet (and messy) apartment.

While this week has been wonderful, I’m absolutely, utterly, unspeakably exhausted. I hope to sleep straight through to Sunday.
