Music is a huge part of my life, and continues to be an important part of my recovery from jaw surgery. All of these songs are from several years ago. Maybe one of these days I’ll get ambitious and post some newer stuff. In the meantime…enjoy!
This first song is written by my dad, who is an awesome composer. This is my dad and me singing, with my dad on piano. (The recording was made in a friend’s basement…so forgive the quality!)
A taste of my classical singing days in college. Alas, pain prevented me from ever getting the training I really wanted and needed.
(That’s code for: if you’re a music snob–like I am–please be kind in your judgements. Remember: I was in excruciating pain at all times while singing! 🙂 )
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I have always identified with Dorothy and the idea of finding a place where “troubles melt like lemon drops” someday. This was recorded from the same performance as O Mistress Mine. (The pianist is the lovely and talented Crystal J.)
“It’s a Big World” was written by my dad when I was about 6 years old. The original recording was of me, as a 6 year old, and my mom singing together. This version was recorded about 10 years ago, and is still my mom and me. This song is so nostalgic for me, I had to include it! My dad is on piano again.
